NAMI Oak Ridge Hosts Suicide Prevention Presentation
On February 9, NAMI Oak Ridge, as part of their monthly support meetings, will present a program on the causes and prevention of suicide. This event is free and open to the public. Our guest speaker is Molly Colley, Northeast Regional Director for the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network (TSPN). Ms. Colley holds a BS in Psychology and a MA in Counseling and is a National Certified Counselor.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US and the 2nd leading cause among 10- to 34-year-olds. There are 2½ times more deaths in the US from suicide than from homicide. In 2019, 1.2 million adults attempted suicide in our country.
The event is 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. EST. Following Ms. Colley’s presentation we will have a shortened meeting for support group attendees only. If you would like the link for this event, contact Kathy at 865-466-1234 or at email@example.com.
